Plug-in Service Facilities
Plug-in facilities are available on all our routes except Larne - Cairnryan and can be claimed on a first-come-first-served basis. To use this service, the vehicle’s electrical equipment must be in good working order and tested before travel.
Only P&O Ferries’ crew should connect and disconnect the power supply for our plug-in services. The keys of the vehicle must be removed from the ignition. Drivers should ensure that their vehicles’ electrical equipment is in good working order and tested prior to travel.
Any on-board issues with the power connection should be reported immediately to the ships’ crew, so that they are aware and can assist drivers.
As per the MCA guidance (MGN 341 and MGN 545) we are no longer allowed to have running engines on deck due to the risk of fire. For clarification, a running fridge can only be carried as long as the refrigerator system is independent of the vehicle drive engine and on the following routes only: Tilbury - Europoort, Tilbury - Zeebrugge, Larne - Cairnryan and Dover - Calais. Vehicle engines cannot be left running to operate the system, on board the vessel. If your vehicle has been equipped with an independent power supply for the fridge or heater, it is permitted to park the vehicle on the open deck (weather deck) area.
Note: Plug in compatibility onboard the Pride of Hull & Pride of Rotterdam is 440V/32A.
All plug-in and open-deck requirements must be notified at the check-in and are subject to availability.
